Tom Cruise and Elon Musk’s SpaceX produce a movie in space, Get ready for a design of a film which is out of this planet.
Actor Tom Cruise and Elon Musk’s SpaceX are working on a NASA project to film an outer space action movie, Deadline reported Monday. Cruise, NASA and SpaceX representatives did not respond to requests for comments immediately.
In what seems like an article straight out of the satirical newspaper The Onion, the Deadline report says “it’s not a Mission: Impossible film and no studio is in the mix at this point.” The film will be the first fictional feature film shot in outer space, and though specifics are sketchy, the report says it will be filmed in “Musk’s space ship.”
NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine said just last week that the first-ever launch of astronauts to the International Space Station on board a SpaceX spacecraft is scheduled for May 27. Cruise or when he would board a spacecraft was not specified.
Cruise is known to take bold chances while making its movies. For the 2011 movie Mission: Impossible — Ghost Procedure, he scaled the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.
Yet Musk isn’t new to the world of entertainment. He has starred in several films and television shows, sometimes as himself. On the Adult Swim animated series Rick and Morty in 2019, Musk played a mutant version of himself called Elon Tusk.
