Tesla Semi again postponed, arriving in 2021
Tesla Semi again postponed, arriving in 2021. As part of its Q1 2020 earnings release, the EV manufacturer reported that the delay.

Don’t expect any all-electric remakes of Smokey and the Bandit or Convoy featuring Tesla’s Semi anytime soon. The Big T has agreed to push back the big rig to at least 2021 — but at this stage we are beginning to think it will be postponed indefinitely.

As part of its Q1 2020 investor update, Tesla revealed the delay and this is not the first time Semi has been pushed. Initially it was set to go into production in 2019, but it got pushed back to 2020 and now it’s 2021. Why is this so? We don’t ask, because Tesla didn’t elaborate and didn’t respond to the request for comment from Roadshow.

Tesla Semi delayed yet again, now coming 2021 - Roadshow

We do know that Tesla had initially intended to build Semi in the area of its Reno Gigafactory.. The delay has anything to do with it or simply a need for the company to move resources to something else is the guess of everyone.

Since a couple of years now, Tesla’s electric semi-truck has been running on public roads and it looks fairly close to launch.

That’s why we suspect its continuing delays are more of a logistics or profitability issue than a technology or design issue with its planned 500-plus miles range and $150,000 to $180,000 price tag.

Tesla Semi Truck delayed again until 2021 putting it 2 years beh

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has recently indicated on Twitter that at some point this year we should expect some sort of product update. Also, the upcoming Roadster, although it’s not clear if this pushback is what he intended.
