Chip and Joanna Gaines Are Opening a Hotel in Waco, Texas
Joanna and Chip Gaines, once again are expanding their empire. The couple who appeared on the hit HGTV show Fixer Upper, have launched several home and furniture lines, own numerous businesses including a bakery, restaurant, and home goods store. They are even launching their own TV network this year—announced on October 3, 2019, that they will be opening a new stunning hotel in downtown Waco, Texas. Joanna Gaines who recently unveils a new paint color that’s very close to her heart. Along with her husband, Chip Gaines, Joanna Gaines runs a lifestyle empire with stores, home decor items and cookbooks.
Chip and Joanna Gaines Are Opening a Hotel in Waco, Texas. The new property will be located in the historic Grand Karem Shrine, built in 1928 and features a Moorish-style arch at the entrance. However, the interior of the three-story structure remains unchanged from 91 years ago, with decorative symbols of Freemasons and Shriners still adorning the foyer. There is also a grand ballroom with room for hundreds inside.
Slated to open in 2021, Chip and Joanna intend to complete an extensive historic restoration of the 53,000-square-foot property, keeping the ballroom and the current exterior details, including that iconic archway. A ground-floor restaurant, café and a rooftop terrace will be added, along with green striped awnings on the first level.
“Reviving timeless, historical buildings is core of what we do,” said the founder and CEO of Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners, Ben Weprin, the company that will be working with the Gaineses to bring the hotel to life. “We are so eager to partner with Chip, Joanna, and the Magnolia team to bring a real hotel experience to the lively and growing community of Waco.”
The Magnolia founders have not officially announced the name for their new venture, but the hotel will be located just a few blocks from Magnolia Market at the Silos and is expected to feature Joanna’s signature design sense.

We’re highly honored to work with Ben Weprin and his team at AJ Capital Partners to bring this place to life” they concluded.
