Bentley re-opened the network of Chinese dealers, Following an extended suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic, Bentley’s entire distributor network in China, consisting of some 40 retail stores, has now completely reopened.
Bentley is also beginning deliveries in the region, as well as reopening showrooms, including for the all-new Flying Spur, the company’s new flagship. First deliveries of the model took place in Europe in the first quarter of 2020, before the pandemic took over entirely in the region.
Bentley has worked closely with local authorities on the reopening strategy and should be able to do it entirely in accordance with local laws. Extended opening hours to minimize the traffic in showrooms, improved cleaning and protective equipment in place and multimedia displays where possible are among the latest steps in place.
“A variety of procedures were in place during this tough period to secure the well-being of our stakeholders and to safeguard our customers’ services,” said Kim Airey, Managing Director of Bentley Motors, the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Macau. “We paid careful attention to developments surrounding the outbreak and are now delighted to be able to reopen our showrooms, with stringent safety measures being placed in place, bringing customers back in to experience the exceptional Bentley line-up.”
The third-generation Flying Spur is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12, coupled to an advanced eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that lets the car achieve a maximum speed of 207 mph from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds.
Designed on a new advanced aluminum and composite frame, it has an all-wheel electronic steering system – a first on a Bentley, active all-wheel drive, and Bentley Dynamic Ride, the world’s first 48V electrical anti-rolling system. Three-chamber air springs are also available to further help the ride and provide a variety of settings between limo-like comfort and a more sporty look.
Within, the dashboard is built around the Bentley Rotating Monitor logo featuring a 12.3-inch digital touchscreen, analog dials, or a wood veneer finish with digital detox. There is a detachable touch screen remote control in the rear that can handle all the main functions such as the blinds, climate control, massage seats and mood lighting.
The new Flying Spur is priced from £168,300 in the UK, where Bentley’s factory and showrooms remain closed in line with government guidelines.
